Second is my graduation day – shaking the same professors’ hands that I shook coming in as a freshman, marking the end of one amazing journey and the beginning of another. Favorite Panther Moment: On my first day as an employee here at Ferrum, Dr. Joseph Spooner and his wife Nicole came up to me, hugged me and asked me in which department I worked. Because it was my first day, I had no idea he was the President so I asked them where they worked. They looked at each other, smiled and said “in the President’s office”. As we approached the Admissions building, everyone shouted and rushed out to greet the President of the College and his wife. I was mortified! How could I not know who they were? Nicole and Dr. Spooner continue to laugh at this story and always greet me with a hug. Our Presidential family is the coolest.
Why you should choose Ferrum: Ferrum is one of the few colleges that actually nurtures every student. Ferrum College ensures that every student is given a myriad of opportunities to succeed. Faculty actually take an interest in students’ goals and help to plan a distinguished course of action.

As a student – First day of freshman year walking out of our Ceremony of Initiation and Affirmation, being welcomed by all of the professors and the tradition to shake their hands as you walk down the line. Four years later, Commencement Day (graduation), seeing the same line of professors shake my hand again as they send me off to make a difference in the world.
As an employee of the college – In August/September, seeing all of the new panthers I worked with through the admissions process go through the same ceremony with smiles on their faces!

Favorite Panther Moment: Some of my favorite moments have almost always been affiliated in some way with events like Panther Preview, PAWS or Check-In day. It is a lot of fun to work at these events together with my colleagues, including current (and past) work-study students, as well as meeting new students and their families! It is very difficult to choose just one, but I think my most favorite moment has to be when a student who I have helped during their journey at Ferrum comes back after graduation to visit. Good times!
